沈周简介：
沈周（1427-1509），明代著名书画家，字启南，号石田、白石翁、玉田生、有居竹居主人等。汉族，长洲（今江苏苏州）人。生于明宣德二年，卒于明正德四年，享年八十三岁。他不应科举考试，以诗文书画为业，是明代中期文人画“吴派”的创始人，与文徵明、唐寅、仇英并称“明四大家”。他留下了许多作品，如《庐山高图》、《秋林话旧图》、《沧州趣图》，并著有《石田集》、《客座新闻》等。

Shen Zhou's Famous Works:
Shen Zhou's works are now mostly collected in major museums in China, such as the Palace Museum, which has important works like "Fang Dongju Mountain Water" scroll, "Changzhou Fun" scroll, "Gradation of Barbarians", and "Vegetable Painting". The Nanjing Museum also houses several masterpieces by Shen Zhou. Among them are "Dong Zhuang" painting and a brushwork on melon. The Liaoning Museum has two outstanding paintings by Shen Zhou: one is called "Seclusion to Appreciate Chrysanthemums" scroll, depicting three people drinking wine and appreciating chrysanthemums under a tree; the other is called "Smoke-filled Mountains with Layers of Hills" scroll.
Artistic Features of Shen Zhou's Works:
In terms of artistic style, Shen Zhou drew inspiration from his predecessors but also had his own unique creations. He combined elements from various styles during the Song and Yuan dynasties to develop a new style characterized by rough strokes with ink washes. His early works were mostly small-scale paintings, but he began creating larger pieces after reaching 40 years old. In middle age, his technique was precise and refined; later in life, it became more free-spirited and bold.
