她出身于贫寒的家庭，年幼时便因对山歌和黄梅调的热爱而遭族规禁止。然而，这并未阻止她的天赋与勤勉好学的本性。13岁时，她投入严云高门下学习黄梅戏，在枞阳、桐城等地展现才华。在此后的一段时间里，她又得益于丁永泉老师的指点，在贵池、青阳以及安庆、皖南等地不断演出。1947年，她加入了胡金涛和刘凤云的大师班，开始学习京剧艺术。而在1949年后，她又拜访了北昆剧社中的白云生大师，不断汲取各类剧种之长，以丰富自己的表演技艺。1953年，she正式加入了安徽省黄梅戏剧团。

Some of these roles have even been adapted into films like "Heavenly Matchmaker", "Lady-in-Waiting", and "Cowherd and Weaving Maiden". Through her dedication to the art form, she has made significant contributions to the development of Huangmei Opera.
